ContactSift terms of use

Effective date: 8 November 2026

These terms apply to the ContactSift – Email & Phone Extractor browser extension for Chrome and Firefox (“ContactSift”), provided by Matheus da Silveira Mello, an individual developer based in Portugal (contact: matheus.mello.developer@gmail.com). By installing or using ContactSift you agree to these terms.

1. Licence

I grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use ContactSift for your own personal or internal business purposes. You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute the extension, or remove its notices. Third-party components are licensed under their own terms (see the notices included with the extension).

2. Acceptable use

Email addresses and phone numbers are personal data. You are responsible for how you use contacts you collect: follow data-protection law (such as the GDPR) and anti-spam law (such as the ePrivacy rules and CAN-SPAM), and respect each website’s terms. Do not use ContactSift to send unsolicited marketing. You must not use ContactSift for unlawful purposes or in a way that harms websites or other people.

3. Free features and limits

ContactSift is free and requires no account. Before scanning, you must review the in-product disclosure and choose “I agree”; “Decline” keeps scanning off. Agreeing alone does not read a page. After consent, clicking “Scan this page” scans the selected HTTP/HTTPS page for email addresses and phone numbers, handles common email obfuscations and encoded email attributes, and checks and formats phone numbers locally using a selected default country. It supports selecting results, copying values, CSV export, deduplication and saving contacts in named local collections, with a total limit of 100 saved contacts across all collections. Contacts are deduplicated within each collection. Settings support page-domain and excluded-value filters, and creating, renaming, deleting, copying, exporting or clearing collections; the default “My collection” cannot be renamed or deleted.

Five scans are allowed per UTC day, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Scans count only after page access and scanner execution succeed, including scans with no contacts or with all results filtered out. Unsupported pages and page-access failures do not consume scans. Copying, exporting and saving current results do not consume additional scans. Scanning uses temporary selected-tab access, with no standing website host permissions, and may be blocked on browser or store pages. See the privacy policy for saved fields, local storage, source URLs, clipboard and download handling.

Settings shows the disclosure and consent status. “Withdraw consent” removes the consent record, disables further scanning even in an open popup and clears unsaved results. Saved contacts and collections remain until you delete or clear them. Clipboard copies and exported files remain under your control. To scan again, review the disclosure and choose “I agree” in the popup.

4. Your rights and responsibilities

You control which data you copy, save or share. Review outputs before use, protect personal or confidential information, and retain it only as long as appropriate. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights or any other rights that cannot be waived by law.

5. No warranty

To the extent permitted by law, ContactSift is provided “as is” and “as available”. Websites vary, and extraction may be incomplete or incorrect. Availability, compatibility and error-free operation are not guaranteed. Check results before relying on them.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, profits or business arising from use of ContactSift. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Changes and termination

I may update the extension and these terms. Material changes will be published on this page with a new effective date. You can stop using ContactSift at any time by uninstalling it.

8. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring claims in the courts there. Consumers may also use an alternative dispute resolution entity, such as the Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo (CNIACC).
